World without fish

Another book on my to-read list (so no, this isn’t a review, just a suggestion).

Mark Kurlansky has written lots of books about fish (Cod is still a bestseller after more than a decade – quite rightly) but this is the first one aimed at getting the message across to the younger generation that we are speedily emptying the oceans for them.

It’s part graphic novel (so kind of like The Rime of The Modern Mariner) part regular text.

Kurlanksy told the Guardian how he’s into the idea of fish being expensive. “What are poor people supposed to be eating? I wish I had a smart answer for that.”

He said he wanted to write for kids because they have far more open minds than us grown ups – which I guess is true.
