Tim Winton wrote one of my all-time favourite books Blue Back, a beautiful ‘contemporary fable’ about a boy who grows up in Western Australia, spending most of his time diving and swimming in the ocean. He makes friends with an enormous fish and decides to become a marine biologist so he can learn what fish think about (it really is beautiful, check it out!).
Here’s Tim speaking out for protecting the seas in Australia – his take on it is… well, if we don’t then there’ll be no-where beautiful left in the ocean to visit and scuba dive. And I think he has a point.
