Not sure how recent this graphic is but it should be mentioned that California recently put a ban on shark fins, making it illegal to sell and distribute the item at the start of 2012. Fins can no longer be imported but fins that are already in the state can be sold until some time in 2013. This law may create a higher incidence of black market trade of shark fins but it is at least a step in the right direction to help protect sharks.
